Rheumatoid arthritis: a natural approach
Written by Dr Alexis Robic · Studio Inné, Marseille

When fire settles in the joints and inner movement comes to a halt
An inflammation that slowly eats away: rheumatoid arthritis, naturally
Widespread, shifting, exhausting pain. A body that can no longer keep up. Simple movements that become heavy. And this silent question that haunts you:
“Why is my own body attacking itself?”
At Inné, we welcome this pain. Not as fate. But as complex languages, calls for transformation, cries from a memory that will no longer stay silent.
Polyarthritis: understanding the terrain
Polyarthritis (whether rheumatoid, seronegative, undifferentiated or atypical autoimmune) is a disease in which the immune system attacks the synovial membrane (the layer surrounding the joints).
Consequences:
• Persistent inflammation,
• Symmetrical joint pain (hands, wrists, knees…),
• Morning stiffness,
• Chronic fatigue,
• Gradual progression if left untreated.
But behind the inflammatory side, there is often a deep neuro-emotional terrain, a long-standing fatigue, an inner load never set down.
What science knows
1. Polyarthritis is a systemic autoimmune disease
“The pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis”McInnes & Schett, New England Journal of Medicine, 2011
It involves an abnormal autoimmune response, with inflammatory cytokines (TNF-alpha, IL-6) that attack the joint tissues, causing pain and deformity.
2. The gut microbiota is involved in autoimmunity
“Gut microbiome in rheumatoid arthritis: a systematic review”Zhang X. et al., Autoimmunity Reviews, 2020
An imbalanced gut flora increases intestinal permeability, leading to a systemic inflammatory immune response.
3. Undigested trauma increases the risk of autoimmune disease
“Early life stress and inflammation in chronic disease”Danese et al., Nature Reviews Immunology, 2007
People who have lived through painful or unresolved life events have a significantly higher risk of developing chronic autoimmune diseases.
What we see at Inné
We know how to help you with rheumatoid arthritis, naturally.
What the body is saying in polyarthritis
“Why do I hurt all over when nothing shows?”
“Will the pain ever stop?”
“Is my body turning against me?”
What if this inflammation were not an enemy… but an extreme attempt to break free?
At Inné, we observe that many patients with polyarthritis have long:
• held back their words,
• endured without listening to themselves,
• internalised conflict,
• repressed their anger,
• swallowed the urge to move, to transform, to break away.
In the end, the body expresses through the joints what the soul can no longer carry alone.

What we offer at Inné
Our sessions aim to slow down inflammation, restore inner movement and bring the body’s responses back into harmony at every level.
Body & tissues
• Gentle release of the tissues around the joints (fascia, nerves, muscles)
• Osteo-fascial treatment on painful areas (hands, hips, knees…)
• Diaphragm work to stimulate lymphatic circulation
Immunity & inflammation
• Reducing silent sources of inflammation (gut, liver)
• Rebalancing the microbiota (probiotics, targeted nutrition)
• Anti-inflammatory dietary support that is autoimmune-friendly
Emotion & History
• Releasing held-in anger, things left unsaid, repression
• Transgenerational work on the memory of thwarted movement
• Reconnecting with inner uprightness: I can stand tall, at peace
Integration & rhythm
• Deliberately slowing the pace of life (sleep, rest, screens)
• Reconnecting with the pleasure of movement (mindful walking, micro-mobility)
• Remote sessions to support inflammatory flare-ups

We support:
• people with diagnosed or suspected polyarthritis,
• unexplained chronic joint inflammation,
• pain that moves around, persists, comes back,
• people in deep fatigue, or whose inner life has come to a standstill,
• those who feel that “something has to shift”, but whose body no longer allows it.

Your body is not attacking you.
It is pushing you to release an old way of being, in order to embrace a new one.
And sometimes, that means going through fire. But for the ancients, fire was not an evil.
It was the beginning of transmutation.
At Inné, we do not seek to “put out” the fire.
But to give it a new space to flow, to illuminate, to set free.
This text describes what we observe at the studio. Every terrain is unique: a personalised reading always begins with a first consultation.
